Bibbity-boppity-boo! You've landed in Disney! Don't we wish it were that easy. Our trip to FL was nutty... Tom's parent's plane broke down & had to return to SA, so we were on our own to wrestle two kids, a double stroller, & EIGHT carry-ons through the airports. Just pay the extra $30 a suitcase people. After getting lost in the Orlando airport, we finally made it on the Magical Express... the kid next to us threw up, Mae got tossed onto her face in the floorboard (no seatbelts), and the driver forgot to go to our hotel. After a very late night - even later for Tom's parents - we collapsed into bed.
The next morning we were so excited to get to Magic Kingdom - and the first character to sign the girls autograph books was this sweet Fairy Godmother. I was surprised at how much the girls enjoyed getting signatures - despite the lines they were always excited to get their book signed.
We got our first taste of the rides with the carousel, Dumbo, & Magic Carpet. Mae always wanted to go on each ride again, and didn't quite understand why we didn't want to stand in the lines in the heat. Who says that Disney isn't crowded in September? Oh my.
Love this smile! Other great memories from the first day - Tommy & Mae especially loved Mickey's Philharmagic Show. Tommy laughed through the whole thing, and Mae kept trying to grab all of the 3D flying objects. We went back another day to enjoy watching them & take advantage of the AC - I was a little shocked at how very HOT & muggy FL is in September!
We went to Epcot for dinner that first night & rode two of Anna's very favorites - Soarin & Spaceship Earth. The first is an amazing flight simulator, and the second is an educational ride about the evolution of knowledge from prehistoric times to the computer age. I thought the girls would be so bored but it was one Anna requested over & over.
Mae at a character spot while we all rode Soarin - she wasn't quite tall enough this time for several of the bigger kid rides. She was a good sport though. It's funny to hear her know playing "Disney" in the playroom - she's measuring stuffed animals & telling them that they are a little short for certain rides.
Our good friends from church, the O'Quinns, were vacationing at the same time - it was great to get to meet up with them for dinner at the Biergarten (great German food) & watch their boys & Mae dance to the German live band.
Our girls never napped, but a few nights Mae fell asleep on our way out in the stroller. This stroller was a lifesaver (thanks Moore's!). They both rode in it a ton, and some of my favorite memories were just watching the girls chat & make each other laugh - they giggly hysterically when they are over-tired.
On our second morning, Nana gave the girls these Minnie Mouses. Mae LOVED hers & carried it around for two days. We both bought some things ahead of time from the Disney store (t shirts, character mugs, stuffed animals), but the girls also brought their own money that they'd earned for months. I loved how their picks matched their personalities. Anna chose her very first Webkin (we hope that playing this online will replace Jumpstart World - oh please!). She named it Trixie after Fox & the Hound. Mae chose shoes - so typical! This girl loves shoes & has worn these Asian slippers from Animal Kingdom with everything since.
We were so thankful for Nana & Pappy's help! We couldn't have done the trip without them. Disney is hard work! They helped with all the bus traveling, kid entertaining in lines, potty brakes, kid carrying, & a million other things.
The shows in AK were amazing. In the Lion King show Tom got pulled from the audience to lead our area in a wild hog call (hilarious), and the girls got chosen to be in the Circle of Life performance. Anna was scared, but did it anyway, and Mae was thrilled.
Mae worked her three year old charms on everyone we were around. She chatted & smiled & made lots of new friends. Here she is getting carried to our table in Boma by the African host. This was the best food on our trip... and you can see that the girls loved all the desserts on the buffets - all bets were off on my normal healthy eating enforcements - it was chicken nuggets & sugar all the way (with a few token fruits & veggies thrown in)!
Our little poser - thank you Lord! I was so glad that Anna was over her "don't take my picture" phase for this trip. She even asked for pictures to be taken of her with characters or when we waited around.
We met up with our friends again to watch Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios the second night. We had to wait in the outdoor theater for over an hour for it to start, so we were so glad to have company.
More to come - we have 460 pics to go through, so now I know why everyone does their Disney trip in multiple posts!

Those are FABULOUS pictures Amber...I am so glad that you all had such a great time. I hope you had good energy for your trip too.
