For the last six weeks Anna earned the "Granger Wrangler" award from Mrs. Smith. Each teacher gets to choose one child from her class who exemplified the character quality that six weeks. This is what the principal got to read to all of us about Anna from Mrs. Smith...
"Anna Dayton is the Granger Wrangler Award winner for the 6th six weeks. Anna is so sweet and helpful to all of the children in my class. She has a wonderful calming personality and is a great influence on others. Anna has helped many people in our room become better writers. I am so glad to have had Anna in my room this year. Her cheerful attitude is contagious. She says "Good Morning, Mrs. Smith" everyday when she comes into the room. Anna defines what a Granger Wrangler should strive to be."
I thought that is was so sweet that God assured us through these words that Anna was right were He wanted her to be this year. One of our big struggles at home is that Anna is not a morning person & is a huge grouch every day when it is time to get dressed for school. We have butted heads almost every morning ALL year long. Every day on our way to school I prayed aloud over her that God would give her a joyful heart & an encouraging spirit. Mrs. Smith's words confirmed that He definately answered that prayer! Another struggle of ours before school started & during the fall was working on writing with Anna. She didn't like her handwriting, did not want to write in lowercase letters (a kinder requirement), and it was like pulling teeth to get her to practice. Now, she says that her favorite thing about kindergarten was learning to write, and it was such a blessing to hear that she was even helping her classmates. God is so good!
