Well, first camping trip in the pop up in the books - hopefully many more to come! Tom & I have always wanted to create camping memories with our kids just as our parents did with us. We've tent camped with them at least a couple of times a year since they were babies. After the last summer camping trip when we cut the hole in our tent to install a window unit AC (high class people), we decided that it would be awesome to have a camper with half the packing already done for us, plus a really good AC. We found this one on Craigs List in great shape & drove to Dallas to pick it up right before school started. Of course, the camping weekend that we chose at the end of Sept held 90% chance of thunderstorms throughout. We pushed the trip until Sunday so that we could at least spend one night in it before the craziness of fall schedules kicked in. We arrived Sunday just before lunch & learned our first lesson - with 3 busy kids (esp little monkey) we were super glad that my parents could meet us to entertain the kids while we set up. Somehow my mom made it into ZERO pictures (she's always the photographer), but she was there too! The kids had a great day fishing, teaching Grammy how to geocache, side walk chalking, & sneaking candy in G & D's trailer. Judah took a great nap in the pack n play & was so happy to be spending the whole day outside. That night we cooked hot dogs - Anna was a great assistant chef all weekend on the cookstove (burn ban - no fire). Then, we learned our second lesson of this trip - we either don't have or don't know how to locate the heater on our camper. The low 60's don't sound too cold, but Tom & I gave almost all of the blankets to the kids & froze our tails off all night! We've ordered a good space heater for our next trip already. The next morning we were thankful again for my parents help so that we could load up & get the girls to school by mid morning. Last lesson - camping is way too much packing, set up, laundry, etc to plan a 24 hour trip! Overall though, we had so much fun even though it was short. The kids loved every minute & it gave us a glimpse of how many memories we'll get to make over the years.

So glad you guys took the plunge. It was a lot of work for one nite, but now you know. We had a great time with the kids. I loved finding that video on my phone that showed Mae giving Judah candy while they were inside our camper. Funny.
