Sweet Maelyn Moment

This isn't meant to be a mommy brag post (although we are so proud of our precious girl), but a memory for our blog book so that we can look back & see how God was shaping a gift in Mae from a young age.  Mae is a people person - she loves new friends & old, talking to anyone, & has a special gift for noticing kids that are left out or lonely.

At our first 6 weeks teacher conference this past week Mae's teacher told us that she wasn't in a specials group with the rest of her class - she & one other classmate are in "group H".  She said that our PE coach had picked out a couple of kids from each class to create a welcoming committee for new students.  She put kids in the group that she knew would be good examples but also be friendly & outgoing.  Every new student is added to this group so that they can make some new friends during the specials hour.  We know that Mae's sweet smile & bubbly personality is a great fit for the welcome wagon!

Mae came to me a couple of days later & said that she was sad... she told me that her friend Bonnie that she had met in group H was a new student at the beginning of the year but was already having to move away again.  She wanted to make Bonnie a going away gift (she picked out something she had bought at the Bible buck station) & card.  She wrote "I will miss you Bonnie.  I love you and I will pray for you when you move."  She told me that Bonnie said that she was the "bestest friend she had ever had".  She had known her for 6 short weeks.  It made me sad & proud all at the same time.

Love that sweet Mae.  I know that God is developing this heart for the lonely in her for His purposes.

Mae's never meet a stranger personality is one I can envy. Go for it Mae. Love her kind and tender heart.
