Nursery Rhyme Parade & Wrangler Roundup

Last week the kinder classes did their nursery rhyme parade... Mae chose to be the cat and the fiddle. She made a precious little black cat! We used a set of cat ears from our dress up stuff (they may have been from one of my costumes as a kid - Grammy?) & sewed a tail. I made a cardboard fiddle & Tom used some old guitar strings to make it more realistic. She was very thrilled with her costume!

Both girls had great teacher conferences as well. A mommy brag for our family record: Mae's teacher had great things to say about her academics & behavior, but also shared that she was very proud of how Mae had stepped up to help a little girl in her class with special needs. Her teacher had told the class that this girl may need extra love & patience, and she said that Mae really took that to heart & has become this girl's sidekick ever since. Mae sweetly mothers her, plays with her on the playground, & has become her partner for center time to help keep her on task. We pray over the girls in the morning often that they will be a friend to someone who really needs one, and it was a blessing to hear how God is answering that prayer!

Later that week the girls had their first six weeks Wrangler Roundup. Both were recognized for good citizenship & perfect attendance. Anna also made the honor roll. We were very proud that her teacher also chose her as the "kid with character" for her class this six weeks. The principal read a sweet note about Anna & she got to bring home a sign to display in our yard. The trait being honored was responsibility - we are very thankful to God that He is growing this trait in her & led us to the descision to try out an ADHD medication that is helping a ton. I included that because I know I've gotten other "mom advice" from blogs & would be happy to talk about our experience with that med to anyone who may want to chat about it!
