This cute picture above sums up our spring break camping trip well... you can just call us "the rain makers". For the third spring break in a row (& fourth or fifth camping trip straight) - we have managed to defy all forecasts & BRING THE RAIN. No matter that on Tues, our last day to cancel the reservation, weather.com predicted a 10 percent chance of rain on Sat & Sun. Even as we sat in our damp lawn chairs around the campfire with umbrellas in the drizzle, you could look on your phone & see ZERO percent chance of rain at that moment, with nothing on the radar. We were in a rainy parallel universe!
No matter! The kids had a blast with their cousins. We took up 5 camp sites with a total of 26 family members - an even 13 kids & 13 adults. The kids wore their rain boots for the entire trip - I regretted letting Anna borrow mine since she had outgrown hers (who knew to shop for them with a 10% chance of rain!) so I spent the wkend skirting puddles & walking around in damp tennis shoes. Judah & Leah must have ridden 100 miles up & down the road on their scooters, the kids did a little fishing & paddle boating, & a lot of scavenging from camp site to camp site trying everyone's food - especially if they smelled bacon or campfire donuts.
By the end of the weekend the kids were begging to stay another night & we were busting home as fast as we could to take hour long showers. The weekend was the last straw in our relationship with our pop up. Too many wet weekends in a row don't mix well with 3 kids in a pop up camper. A post to come on our new-to-us travel trailer!
