Hondo - last post!

Sooo many pictures, but I have to stop sometime.  These are the last of my favorites.  Below- Mae did not meet a Honduran lizard or bug that she didn't love.  Here she is with a lizard & ginormous grasshopper.

One afternoon we hiked up the hill to the senior center to treat the ladies to a spa day.  We did facials, pedicures, & hand massages.  Anna & Mae both pitched in - little beauticians!  When we told the ladies that we forgot the nail polish we invited them to the daycare the next day & they all showed up for bright (I mean neon) pink polish on their fingers & toes.  Some of the men showed up too & wanted some of the spa action.  Mae was happy to wash their feet.   Their reactions to this pampering were memorable.  Many said they had never had anything like this done in their whole lives... one lady wanted us to take her picture getting her feet massaged so that she could get a copy & show her family because she said they didn't love her & she wanted them to see that someone did...

This man hugged Mae over & over after his foot washing.  So sweet.

On our last full day in Campemento we took the bus to a Mennonite run restaurant for breakfast & some ice cream.  Below - 3 monkeys.

On our way back to the daycare we made a detour to Teo's house.  He is a workhorse who helps all the teams with manual labor projects - concrete, etc.  He probably weighs about 100 pounds soaking wet.  He told us that he lived a short walk up a hill.  He meant several miles up a ridiculous road that the bus couldn't manage.  We all got off the bus to hike the rest of the hill - not an easy walk!  Teo sleeps in a small lean-to shack on the side of a relative's house (just enough room for a bed), hikes down the hill into town (about an hour & a half one way), works like a dog all day, then hikes back up the hill every night.  With a smile.
So thankful to share the trip with my Dad

Our last evening was spent playing & watching a street soccer match - tired Americans vs Honduran teenagers.  Yeah - we lost.

Cheering section.  Someday when that little boy in green is a GQ model we'll say we knew him when.

Mae & Braden (teen intern) up bright & early to catch our flight home.  You can see teddy sticking out of Mae's backpack.  That 25 cent garage sale bear is a world traveler.
Loved our trip & so thankful for everyone's prayers!
