Egging Houses

Our new favorite Easter tradition!  I saw this idea somewhere (facebook?) & thought the cousins would love it.  My kids don't know the real meaning of "egging" houses - but the version they learned this year is greatness! 

 

We dressed all the kids in black (except poor Judah, who I forgot to pack black clothes for, but he had cool sunglasses) & told them we had a secret mission for them.  We had them write encouraging scriptures about God's love & the resurrection on slips of paper then filled 3 dozen eggs with scriptures & candy.  One egg in each dozen was left empty.  Then we loaded up (3 cars to accomodate all the carseats & grownups!) & put on the mission impossible theme song on the way to each destination.  My mom had chosen 3 local families that could use some Easter fun in their weekend & made sure that they would be home at some point on Saturday.  At each stop we quietly hid a dozen eggs in the front yard & then put a sign on the door saying...

 

"You've been EGGED!

You will find 12 eggs hidden

in your yard... but don't worry

if one is empty - it reminds

us that HE IS RISEN!"

Then, we would ring the bell & run to our cars.  We weren't very quick about loading up & buckling all the kids, but thankfully we weren't caught.  The kids LOVED it.  Definately something we will do each year.
