Look at these happy faces! Do they make 18 hours of driving in the car this week worth it? Yes. :) Sweet memories made at cousin camp again this year. We started the week in College Station to hang out with mom since Daddy & Dingdaddy left Saturday morning for a week in Honduras with CRF. Since Tropical Storm Bill was headed in we decided to drive to Josh & Jeni's house in Katy on Tuesday morning so the kids could have cousin time even though we were pushing our beach stay to later in the week. We watched a lot of the weather coverage, but didn't get much rain or wind in Katy so we hoped that the storm was more hype than anything else. We got to eat dinner with Mike & Krystal & spend Wednesday morning at the Houston Children's Museum which were both unexpected treats for the week. We left after lunch Wednesday for our 2 1/2 hour drive to Rockport from Houston. Oh. My. Word. We had no idea what we were in for. Apparently other places on the coast got TONS of rain & were underwater. After many highway closures, detours, re-routes on gravel farm to market roads, many, many extra miles, & 7 HOURS later, we finally made it to our cottage. The kids were troopers & we were thankful for God's protection through heck or high water (literally).
We spent all day Thursday on the beach & at the pool. The cousins played so well together & could have spent many more hours in the ocean. The kids found a baby sting ray, learned about the "circle of life" as they watched the seagulls eat the baby fish they had just rescued, & got their money's worth out of their giant floaties. We ended the night with blizzards on the beach & spent as long as we could swimming in the cottage pool before driving 7 hours back to Ft Worth on Friday.
Thank you Grammy for a great cousin camp! We had a blast!
