Honduras - first of many

I always have a hard time getting started on these posts about Honduras... there is just SO MUCH to process, to remember, to record.  Here we are with school starting in a week, two more major trips to blog about, so it's now or never!

These first shots in our lovely orange CRF shirts are of our loooong travel day.  Thankfully uneventful.  All of our carefully (packed every minute for a week) right at 50 lbs suitcases made it & we arrived in Campemento in time for evening service at church.  Right away you remember why you spent all the hours planning, shopping, packing/repacking... to be back in THIS place with these sweet people.  It was fun to see it all for the first time again through my mom's eyes - so very thankful that she got to share the trip with us (although we really missed my dad!).

The rest of the week will be posted all out of order I'm sure since iPhoto has jumbled all of my pictures up.  Captions below.

Traveling wore this chick out.  Our days started with the sun/dogs barking & fighting right out our open windows/roosters/construction overhead... & ended really late by the time 10 girls/ladies used one bathroom to shower & get ready for bed.

I loved that Bobby had the whole group travel out to homes to concrete floors this year (as opposed to just the men going & the girls doing other projects).  We got to see more families in their daily life & routines, and learn up close how a concrete floor could change their circumstances - better health, sanitation, & pride in their home.  Always a good perspective changer to see other's homes... this lady below is washing dishes out her kitchen window on a wooden outdoor sink.  Think on that the next time you want a kitchen reno.
Hot & sweaty after passing buckets of sand & concrete - no piyo, gyms, or cross fit needed in Honduras!

Annual trip to the shoe store to help the daycare littles buy new shoes.  A long afternoon, but humbling to see these kids happily take home any pair of shoes that fit.
